The "second line" culture in New Orleans is a vibrant and unique tradition that dates back to the 19th century. Originating from funeral parades, this form of musical celebration has become emblematic of the city.
'Second lines' are festive processions that move through the streets to the lively rhythm of jazz, combining music, dance, and celebration. Participants march behind the main music group, often a brass band, waving colorful handkerchiefs and dancing to the sounds of brass and percussion.
It is a true explosion of joy and creativity, where locals and visitors to New Orleans can join in this unique cultural experience.
The 'second line' culture is a symbol of the vitality and diversity of this lively city, and it continues to bring people together in a festive and friendly spirit.
